Shiba Inu Anniversary Meetup

We learned that the Los Angeles / Orange County Shiba Inu Meetup Group has been going on for 4 years and we came to play to the park where it all began.

I started with a video to show how much Shiba attendees there were. It's even hard to tell all of them apart or even look for our own ones. The event was held in Huntington Dog park, a very spacious park to enough to accommodate large numbers of dogs. 

The difference between Chloe and Maru was evident here. Chloe is really good with people and loves attention from others as always but doesn't play that much with other dogs.

Whereas Maru prefers to play and run around with other dogs but is quite aloof with people around him.

We also have cute puppies present in the event too, This one is Genji.

And the Shibas started digging led by Genji's big sisfur Yumi.

And the other dogs joined too, It's a shame my dogs aren't too fond of digging.

 We iz tired of diggin' . We want want drinkz.

Shiba Inu Meetup Stories

This is the first time that we went to a Shiba Inu meetup. I have been a member of the group for a while now, but we haven't gone into any yet because it doesn't always fit my schedule. We went to one last June 11, 2011 in a dog park in the city of Irvine. I'm quite excited the day of the meetup because it will be the first time for me and Chloe to meet and play with other shibas and their owners!

I was quite astonished with this male cream shiba who has a handicap. What I mean by a handicap was that he was a three legged dog, he misses one leg. This is the first time I've ever seen one so I don't know what to feel. It must have been hard for the owner and the dog as well, but from what I have observed while watching them, They really have a great relationship, the dog is very well mannered and is a sweet little boy. His handicap didn't hinder him from being a shiba and play around with all the other dogs. Sadly I can't remember the name of the dog, and even some of the dogs and owners I met, I'm really bad on recalling names.

Chloe behaved really well during the meetup. As usual, she enjoyed human attention very much. She played and ran a lot compared to the other Shiba attendees maybe because she was the only puppy and the youngest one in the group.

Another day at the Park

It's really hard to get Chloe's attention when were outdoors, especially when there's a lot of interesting stuff for her to see. And pet photography is not really an easy task, especially when you have a stubborn Shiba that is preoccupied with all the things that surrounds her.

And special thanks to a blog I'm following that I learned how to arrange my images in beautiful multi-panel layouts like the way I presented Chloe's images above. He is quite a good photographer and has a way with pet photography with Suki his Shiba inu as his model. Check out his blog here.

There was no one present in the dog park when we arrived. I don't want our trip to go to waste so I decided to walk her around the park (see images above). When we got back to the dog park, there were quite a few dogs around already. I think Chloe got tired of our long walk, sniffing around and chasing ducks (yes, there were ducks in the park), so when it's her turn to play with the dogs, she was very timid and shy. Look how she hides under the bench.

First step towards the World

The series of vaccinations is finally complete. I hesitantly asked the vet if Chloe can go outside now that she got all her shots and she answered me with a big YES! The first thing that came to my mind was a dog park and we went to one after a few days.

We went to Uptown dog park in the city of Long Beach. It's 15 to 20 minutes away and the closest one that I know around our area. I've been wanting to take Chloe to a dog park and socialize her with other dogs while she's still young because I don't want her to be dog. I felt relieved that Chloe did well on her first encounter with the other dogs present in the park. She did well for a first timer and the other owners present thought so too. Chloe had such a great time running and playing around with the other dogs. I could tell that she really enjoyed our little trip to the park.
