Suumer Reminders

The flyers said it all. Even if its already the end of summer or not even summer in some places, the extreme heat we are experiencing right now pushed me to write this post. A lot of people leave dogs inside their cars along with this dying heat, and temperatures inside the car can be very extreme when left under the sun. It's even comparable to an oven. If it's hot for us humans, what more for the dogs with those thick fur of theirs?

There was this one afternoon and it was still scorching hot and I was driving home from work when I saw a pickup truck, with a dalmatian dog tied up on the back of the vehicle under the heat of the sun and was panting very hard. Seriously, they could have just let the dog ride inside where there's a lot of space for the poor one.

I came across these flyers which is a project of a Shiba blogger in order to increase awareness regarding this topic and to raise funds for Saving Shibas, a shiba rescue group. You can purchase these flyers on etsy at a reasonable price. I'l be getting some too, carry it around and leave it on cars who leave their dogs inside their cars or distribute it to people who you knew have dogs. These may help educate dog owners to become a more responsible pet owner.

Dad, where have you been hiding all theze toyz? Are they for me? Pleaze let it be for me.

A friend of mine have been giving some stuffed toys that's been lying on storage for a while and I thought of my furkids, they'll surely love these stuff.

Which will they pounce on first? the little lion, the spider, the big fish, the tiny bear, pink bear, orange monkey, the tiger, little donkey???

And the winner for Chloe is the little lion!

Maru chose the Giraffe bigger than him.

These two needs to learn to share stuff with each other. Why fight for one toy? There's still a lot in the crate!

Since big sister won't share me her toys, better hog all of it now!

These are 'stuffed' toys, so in some point, I know that they're going rip the stuffing out of it. More cleaning for me and I guess I'll just have to keep up with it. Well, at least it's more fun for for them.

The little lion's hair and eyes are getting ripped out by Chloe at this moment, Great.

To Hunt a Mocking Bird

This goes to show how the Shiba's prey drive is really strong. My girl is ready to  run away to hunt the bird, if only she isn't restrained by her leash. And yeah, Chloe really love birds, she gets easily distracted by them.

Hey you bird, no fair! One day I'll get you! I am a Shiba you know.

Updates on Maru

It feels like ages since I've posted something. It's been quite busy the past few days. Maru completed his medication regimen and have his stool checked again a week later. All traces of worms, eggs, and giardias are all gone. Now he is a happy and parasite free puppy.

Some photos of Maru while we take a walk:

Stubborn pup won't look at the camera.

Would you mind cooperating for a bit?

Now he doesn't wanna move while on leash, great.

Cooling off at the beach

Are those dogs in there? What are we waiting for? Let's get 'em.

It was two weeks ago when we went to our third Shiba Inu meet up which was held on a dog beach and conveniently near my place. This was the first time that we're going to a dog beach, and it would be interesting how Chloe will handle big bodies of water seeing how she hates taking a bath.

Beach photos with her 'airplane ears'

It's not very noticeable because she's facing me, but the first photo shows her airplane ears with smiles. Chloe is enjoying our trip because she doesn't smile that often. She often have that fierce look on her face like she's up to no good.

It's a shiba meet up, so we met some shibas again that day, including Winnie from A Winnie Day whose humom being responsible for organizing the meet up. Some interesting Shibas showed up too whose names i didn't remember again including the black and tan shiba with a red head.

It's Yumi from INU+NYANKOS. She's owned by Aya, one of the the readers of this blog. I wish Chloe dug something at the beach like Yumi did.

I love how big those shiba tails are. Wait, that cream shiba and Chloe have the same collar!

Laying down with the humans, it was nice of them to share some water to Chloe.

*Yawn* I'm tired, let's go home already.

So, how did Chloe took the beach? She was really afraid of the waves at first, like all the shibas around. She needed some forcing to get to the water, I think she enjoyed the water when she got used to it, but that's as far as she goes. It would be kind of interesting if she could swim though.

Sharing Shiba Information

Yesterday, I went to the Irvine Spectrum center to meet with my sisters. Its a  classy outdoor mall, with outdoor diners, benches and tables, my point is you could bring yours dogs! I didn't bring the dogs with me  at  that time because our activities will be limited if I do so. Maybe next time, I'll go there and take take my furkids just to socialize them with people.

I've seen some people walking with their dogs and for the highlights of it, I saw a lady with a Shiba Inu. I calmly approached her and identified the breed. She was with a 7 year old male Shiba named Dante. Too bad I left my camera on my car and didn't catch a picture of him. Since she is carrying a Shiba and assuming that she lived nearby, I asked her if she have gone to any meet ups or picnics like the Shibapalooza that occurred three weeks ago. Surprisingly, she doesn't know anything about all these, so I took the responsibility of informing her all about the meet up group, the picnics, the Shiba club, the Shiba blogs. Seriously, every Shiba owner has the right to know every information on these  wonderful events, groups, and interesting blog poassuminsts around her. I can't help but show her some photos from the Shibapalooza posted on this blog too.

I had fun talking with the lady, showing off and sharing all these Shiba stuff and information with her. She seems really interested and excited about seeing other Shibas out there. Hope we see her soon on the upcoming meet ups and picnics.

Pups Separated

They want to play with each other so badly, but this separation has to be done because first, I'm crate training  Maru, which I obviously failed with Chloe. Second, I'm still potty training my little pup to go to the puppy pads, and lastly, Chloe's rough play is still too much for Maru, she tends to bully him showing him who's the boss. I still let them play together once in a while, but only with my supervision to be sure no one gets hurt.

I sure hope they're not talking about me in that video.
